Can this HD PVR record PS3?
I just got a Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-1950 NTSC/ATSC HyBrid HD TV Tuner
from Ebay and im confused about how to set it up
can it even record ps3?

Yes it can, but your recording will be limited to standard definition (576i/p for PAL video, 480i/p for NTSC video). In this case you would use a standard A/V cable with your PS3 and connect it to the A/V connectors on the HVR capture device and then plug that device into your computer via USB. The included software can record the video and there are many alternative third party programs to do the same thing.
In order to record in 720p or 1080i High Definition, you need to use this capture device instead:

This device lets you connect your PS3 via an analog component connection (RGB) which can provide HD video from your PS3 to your computer. You will require a component adapter/cable for your PS3.
