which is faster: an advanced chip or lower chip with graphics card?
Hi. I recently bought a Sony VPCCW13FD, which has a intel core 2 duo chip with 2.2 GHz, and an NVIDIA video graphics card. I bought this because I do a lot of video editing.
But just a week ago the store brought in a set of core i# computers that are as expensive or cheaper than the one I bought.
So I need to know whether having a more advanced chip means I can edit videos faster, or should I keep this comp that I bought? Thanks!!!

Well...
The whole deal with the "i" series chips... is that they have now added hyperthreading to each core. So, where the Pentium 4 with hyperthreading used to act like a dual core, now each core can handle two separate tasks. So, the i3 with it's dual core, can handle 4 separate processing threads.
Now, the two i3 chips Intel lists, are clocked at 2.93 and 3.06 ghz respectively. Which means that these i3 dual core chips are indeed far faster than your dual core 2.2ghz. So yes, your video edigint software would work faster with an i3 chip than it would with the chip you currently have in your Sony.
