What is the optimal max temp for an Intel core i5 cpu at full load?
I built my first custom system a couple months ago. I use it primarily for gaming. Up until this weekend I've just been using an old Dell monitor via VGA. Today I bought a new LCD with a much nicer screen resolution/refresh rate that hooks up via DVI. However, now the CPU temp reaches between 58-62C when gaming (I'm assuming because my video card is getting hotter, and it rises right up onto the cpu). The CPU is still around 28-35C when idle. I've got pretty good airflow otherwise (I think) - rear exhaust and front intake, and the cpu has a stock fan/heat-sink.
Before I invest in an after-market cpu cooler, is it OK for the CPU to be around 62C at full load? If not, what do you suggest for cooling the system while gaming? Video card is XFX GeForce GTS 250 if that matters. Thanks in advance for your opinions!
62C is a bit hot but not dangerous. But avoid to overclock it.
The Intel and AMD CPU fans are just enough. So before buying an cooler system, change your CPU fan for a better one and add a good thermal paste (Cooler Master, Thermal fusion, Noctua...).
PS : sorry for my frenglish
